DIY Beeswax Calming Balm with Rosehip, Lavender & Chamomile

A gentle herbal balm infused with nature’s calm—no essential oils required.

If you’re looking for a nourishing, all-natural balm without the intensity of essential oils, this beeswax calming balm is for you. Made with rosehip oil and infused herbs like lavender and chamomile, it’s a beautifully simple remedy to soothe dry skin, calm the senses, and support relaxation—without overpowering fragrances.

Why Whole Herbs?

Using whole herbs allows for a gentler infusion and a more subtle, natural aroma. This method respects the full profile of each plant, providing a calming, grounded result that feels more connected to the garden and less processed.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons rosehip oil
  • 2 tablespoons sweet almond oil (or jojoba oil)
  • 1 tablespoon beeswax pellets
  • 1 teaspoon dried lavender buds
  • 1 teaspoon dried chamomile flowers

Equipment

  • Heatproof jar or bowl
  • Saucepan (to create a double boiler)
  • Fine mesh strainer or muslin cloth
  • Clean, dry balm tin or glass jar for storage
  • Wooden spoon or stirrer
  • Label (optional)

Method

  1. Infuse the oil
Combine rosehip oil, almond oil, lavender, and chamomile in a heatproof jar. Gently heat over a double boiler on very low heat for 30–45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Do not overheat—low and slow is best to preserve the herbs’ delicate properties.
  2. Strain
Carefully strain the herbs out using a muslin cloth or fine sieve, reserving the beautifully infused oil.
  3. Melt with beeswax
Return the infused oil to your heatproof bowl and add the beeswax. Gently melt again using the double boiler method, stirring until fully combined.
  4. Pour and set
Pour the mixture into a clean tin or jar and let it cool completely at room temperature (about 1 hour).
  5. Label and store
Store in a cool, dark place. Use within 6 months.

How to Use

  • Apply a small amount to dry hands, lips, temples, or anywhere that needs a little care.
  • Use before bed, during meditation, or after time in the garden for a gentle herbal unwind.
  • Safe for most skin types—always patch test first.
